Sydney, June 15, 2015 – Mun Australia is very proud to support the wonderful work of Days for Girls, a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to promoting education, safety and dignity for girls from around the world, particularly those living in poverty.
The Emu Plains chapter of Days for Girls has recently returned from a nine day visit to poverty-stricken villages in Bangladesh. In many poverty-stricken countries, girls who do not have access to sanitary supplies must miss days of school and work, adding up to almost 2 months of lost work and education per year. Days for Girls hopes to combat these disadvantages by distributing sustainable feminine hygiene kits, administering education courses, and initiating programs within the local community to promote equal opportunities for girls around the world.
As part of the most recent trip, the Emu Plains chapter visited factories to purchase fabric and underwear, introduced the program to local NGOs and charities and presented bags, balloons and educational items to children at Mother Theresa’s Orphanage and the Acid Burn Survivor’s Foundation. They also distributed 200 feminine hygiene kits to girls in the slum areas of Dhaka and 200 lace filled toiletries bags to girls at a juvenile detention centre (many of whom are in the centre simply for protection).
Mun is a proud supporter of Days for Girls, an organisation that embodies our mission “from the heart of many, for many”, and our goal to care for others. It is a delight to be a part of such a worthy cause.
